Natural Retreat

To bring the feel of a Northern Ontario getaway to their property by incorporating a pool house, a uniquely shaped pool, multiple patio spaces for large parties, the sound of falling water, and a natural fire pit.

The most significant challenge was finding a way to conceal the hydro towers visible beyond the back lot line without compromising the natural aesthetic. Additionally, the design needed to seamlessly integrate the various entertaining areas while maintaining a cohesive flow and Northern Ontario ambiance.

• Built large berms with trees to provide seclusion and soften views in the front yard.
• Extended the front porch, creating a welcoming gathering area.
• Constructed 6’ high masoned wall sections along the back lot line and tiered boulder walls with soil and trees to hide the hydro towers effectively.
• Installed three large bubbling rocks into the berm near the covered patio for noise cancellation and added ambiance.
• Extended the main patio 11’ out from the covered porch, offering additional space for tables and gatherings on the upper level.
• Designed an elevated patio built into the boulder wall at the pool, raising the grade for three sheer descent water features. A natural fire pit was integrated into this raised patio for a cozy, secluded ambiance.
• Created three separate, spacious entertaining areas: the covered patio, the pool house, and the raised patio at the pool, ideal for hosting large gatherings.
• Designed a custom pool by combining three separate pool designs, featuring flowing steps, built-in benches, and a lounge area.
• Incorporated low-voltage lighting throughout the project for enhanced safety and ambiance.
