This project was all about transforming a compact backyard into an intimate yet functional space for family and friends. By balancing privacy, modern design, and functional elements like a pool, spa, kitchen, and fire feature, we created a welcoming area that enhances both relaxation and entertainment.
- Create a space that feels both inviting and tranquil while catering to entertainment needs.
- Seamlessly integrate design elements that enhance functionality and aesthetics.
- The narrow 8-foot depth of the balcony required careful planning to maximize usability.
- Running gas lines to the BBQ and fire features was difficult due to the pre-installed concrete balcony.
- Leveraged the elevation change between the patio doors and the concrete balcony to run gas lines on top of the concrete, concealing them with track material to maintain a clean look.
- Raised the balcony surfaces with artificial turf and Porcea tile, eliminating trip hazards and adding both softness and a contemporary feel.
- Installed pea stone gravel under the glass railings to hide the balcony's base, enhancing texture and colour while maintaining durability.
- Added hardscape and coping lights beneath the glass railing to illuminate the space discreetly.
- Completed the design with furniture and fire features, turning the space into a lively entertainment hub.
